Ragging refers to any form of harassment, abuse, or intimidation inflicted on new students by their seniors or peers, and it is considered a serious offense in many educational institutions.

The primary objective of the Anti-Ragging Committee is to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students, free from any form of ragging or harassment. The committee typically comprises faculty members, administrative staff, and student representatives who are committed to creating a positive campus atmosphere.

The committee’s functions include:

  1. Creating awareness: The committee raises awareness among students about the harmful effects of ragging and the consequences for those involved.
  2. Policy formulation: It formulates and implements anti-ragging policies and guidelines in accordance with the regulations set by the government or college authorities.
  3. Complaint registration and investigation: The committee receives complaints related to ragging incidents and conducts impartial investigations to gather evidence and identify the individuals involved.
  4. Support and counseling: The committee provides support and counseling to the victims of ragging, ensuring their well-being and guiding them through the process of reporting and seeking redressal.
  5. Disciplinary action: If ragging is proven, the committee takes appropriate disciplinary action against the offenders, which may include warnings, fines, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the severity of the incident.
  6. Prevention initiatives: The committee organizes awareness programs, workshops, and orientation sessions to educate students about the negative consequences of ragging and promote a healthy and inclusive campus environment.

Overall, the Anti-Ragging Committee plays a crucial role in fostering a safe and respectful college environment by actively working towards the prevention, detection, and eradication of ragging, ensuring the well-being and dignity of all students.

  1. In addition to the Anti-Ragging squad team, separate vigilance teams were also formed. These vigilance teams have visited the Food court during both the Tea break and Lunch break, the parking area, boys hostel, as per the specified schedule (Shown in the below table). The vigilance teams have recorded their observations in the log registers kept at these places. The details of the vigilance teams are as follows.
  1. A separate ‘early mess’ arrangement was made for the first-year students by separating their Tea-break and Lunch break time from seniors. To avoid any incidents of ragging in the hostel, first-year students and senior students are accommodated in separate blocks
  2. A PPT including all the above information was presented to senior students by their head of the departments and to first-year students in their induction program by the convener of the Anti-Ragging committee. All students have filled Anti-Ragging affidavit and the reference number has been collected. All the students were educated not to involve in any such bad practices and to join hands in making campus ragging free.
  3. The faculties, who travel in the college bus daily, were informed to monitor the activities of the senior students in the bus and record the observations in the log register kept in the buses. First-year students were seated in front seats, faculty members in the middle and senior students were seated after faculty members, thereby creating fearless travel for first-year students.

The Placement and Career Guidance Cell at Gyan Sagar college of engineering College serves as a dynamic and student-led entity, dedicated to facilitating connections between students and global corporations. From the outset of their academic journey, the Cell provides comprehensive career guidance programs, ensuring students are well-prepared for future opportunities.

Initiating the recruitment process, companies are actively invited to participate in recruitment drives, allowing interested parties to register on our official platform throughout the year. Subsequently, students are notified, leading to a substantial number registering for interviews. Companies seeking talent from Gyan Sagar college of engineering can conveniently register via our website at any time.

Each academic year commences with the recruitment of volunteer students from the third year, marking the beginning of the interview process. Typically, this process involves illuminating PowerPoint presentations by participating companies, followed by group discussions and personal interviews for interested candidates.

The Training and Placement Office provides the infrastructure to conduct group discussions, tests, and interviews. It also interacts with many industries in the country, and nearly 200 companies visit the campus to hold campus interviews. These industries come under the purview of core engineering industries, IT & IT-enabled services, manufacturing industries, consultancy firms, finance companies, management organizations, and R&D laboratories.

At the conclusion of each academic year, the Cell facilitates internship opportunities for the students, with a focus on ensuring meaningful and enriching experiences that extend beyond the confines of the college. This emphasis aligns with the practical, hands-on approach of degree programs, such as B.tech. offering internships and projects within the local community.

Furthermore, the Placement and Career Guidance Cell hosts a variety of career development programs, including mock interviews, group discussions, internships, communication skills workshops, and guest lectures by HR managers from diverse industries, enhancing the overall learning experience for students.
